Virgin Atlantic Launches “Flying Without Fear” Application for iPhones
November 3rd, 2009Those who have a fear of flying suffer from anxiety that can sometimes inhibit them from seeing the world. Panic about booking travel, and even an inability to board an aircraft are just a few issues for the fearsome flier. Virgin Atlantic announced yesterday that it has, in conjunction with a company called Mental Workout, created an iPhone application designed to help scared travelers board the plane and relax.
The application, called “Flying Without Fear” begins with a personal introduction from Richard Branson. Complete with video explanations of frequently asked questions, examples of relaxation exercises, breathing routines, and fast tips for battling anxiety, the quick tips are meant to calm travelers on flights.
“My Program” is a personal plan where users can rate their fears and prepare for future flights. Users are also offered 2000 points when they join Virgin Atlantic’s Flying Club.
One famous happy customer, Whoopi Goldberg swears that she hadn’t flown in over a decade, and using the program enabled her to board a business flight to London.
The application costs $4.99, and can be accessed through Apple’s App Store.
