Continental Airlines announced on Wednesday that it has signed an alliance agreement with Japanese carrier ANA, which will allow the airlines to strengthen their cooperation following Continental joining the Star Alliance, which ANA is also a member of, on Tuesday.

In addition to the Star Alliance benefits, such as reciprocal frequent flyer benefits and lounge access, Continental and ANA plan to introduce codeshare agreements starting in 2010, subject to government approvals.

The codeshare agreements will reportedly offer customers greater convenience when travelling between Asia and the Americas.
